Test-Optional Colleges
Colleges are frequently hesitant to get rid of standardized tests such as the SAT and ACT. Such tests make it easy to compare applicants from different backgrounds in a consistent, objective way.
However, some colleges object to the SAT and ACT, suggesting that these tests measure a narrow a narrow set of skills, are not the best predictors of college success, and may be unfair to minorities and low-income students.
Because of these concerns, there is a growing list of colleges that don't require the SAT or ACT, including recent additions like Wake Forest and Smith. You may find this list of test-optional schools useful.
