Other Tests
While the SAT Test and the SAT Subject Tests are some of the most common tests in the college admissions process, there are others to be aware of:
- ACT — An alternative to the SAT.
- PSAT/NMSQT — Practice for the SAT and a qualifying test for the National Merit Scholarship program.
- PLAN — Practice for the ACT.
- Advanced Placement (AP) tests and International Baccalaureate (IB) tests — Tests based on college-level courses offered at certain high schools. Results may help students get credit for or exemption from introductory college courses. Strong test results will also bolster a student's academic profile, though these results generally receive less weight than the required tests.
